Yeah, I can’t keep a schedule with posts…And a thought about Larry Niven…

I know I had this thought that I would post more often, and then what two weeks have gone by without anything. It happens, plus dealing with issues at home. I will clue you in later. Not comfortable sharing it yet. (And, that is Bacchus, one of my older cats. Lazing about in the sun.)

Anyway, over the last week or two, I have been thinking about the sci-fi writer, Larry Niven. He has a very large body of work. And, I think that Ringworld is one of his more iconic stories out there. He also had a large collection of stories that were collectively under the “N-Space” umbrella. All of these stories, while maybe not interconnected, all had the exact same rules in them. So, if one story found that there were no aliens living, then no story in that collection could have any aliens–living ones at least.

Which got me thinking about one of the brands that I have out there in the inter-webs, “The Known World Series.” (KWS) It is at least somewhat strung together with repeating characters. Though, that might change soon. It’s more ray-punk and weird stuff that I write, but I do love writing those stories. However, the thing is, I believe that more of the stuff that I write is something that could go into the “Known World Series.” This novella/vella series, Emissaries of the Void. Is a series I could easily see slipping into the same brand. It’s weird, ray-punk-ish, and uses many of the same places that I use in the rest of the KWS stories. Even the Starlight series I can see being placed in the same overall category of things. It is something to ponder, since it would be a way to consolidate the brand a little bit more. Though, not all of them are the darker and noir side of things. Yes, they have some dark aspects to them, but not all.

Something to consider.

And, just found out that I got a bit of extra money from Vella from December. Not a ton, but it is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick!

Finally bit of news, I should have more of the Emissaries vella coming out in Feb. Working behind the scenes on that. But, also working on some fantasy stories for the foreseeable future. Which I am happy about.

And with that, I say to you…

“May the wind be ever at your back, your shield not break, and your oaths stand strong for a thousand years.”
