(I am sorry I haven’t written much. I have been in a rather big downward spiral recently with news about my father and that caused a massive amount of burnout. I am slowly digging myself out of it. And, yes I am seeking help and taking time for myself. And, above, you see Karma, trying to help me write the blog.)
Moonhaven S1…This was a rather different sci-fi show that I was expecting at first. Not a bad thing, since they actually have gone with a slightly different trope of going to the Moon to help Earth save humanity. Having just finished the last episode of the first season, and by the way there is a season two comprising another six episodes, I have to say I enjoyed it more than I thought.
At first, there was the strange dialogue that was used by the “Mooners,” but after thinking about it for half a second, with three full generations living pretty much cut off from Earth, and only being raised by an AI called IO, it is understandable that words and syntax would shift and words would blend and fall out of style. (We don’t know how long it is from our current time, yet they talk about the “Water Wars,” which is something looming on our own horizon—so who knows?)
One of the moon’s large craters is the where a majority of the action takes place. But not in weird space suits and gray stone and dust. IO terraformed the entire area of the Sea of Tranquility to allow this experiment to happen. A place called the “Glade” formed to allow for humanity to start its process of teaching IO about humanity, and thus how it would figure out a way to save Earth from the global devastation brought on by humankind.
The first episode is a clash of a murder on the moon itself, and the end of the hundred years that was set up before the “Voice of IO,” the Envoy, makes her way to the moon with her bodyguard and a pilot. A pilot, who is a smuggler and slotted into flying the Envoy to the moon at the last minute.
It is brief, with only six episodes. Yet, I have heard some say that there is no “season finale.” There is just not the giant crescendo of viewers are used to these days. It is a much quieter, end of part one of the story. With part two and beyond coming next year.
Thanks for following and hope to catch you again soon.
