First Post of 2023! And, the word of the year.

Hello all and welcome to 2023. Lots of changes and ideas are going to be coming down the pipeline this year, I can feel it.

So, first off, how did my 2022 idea go of having a single word as a cornerstone, an idea that I would use to help with my business? I think it went pretty well, since I was able to build out more and more ideas and stories, bring out a few Vella projects and see where they would go. So, that was a success. I even was able to build up the amount of money I was able to make for the year, so even financially it was good. Physically though, I did not follow through as much as I could have. I had chances and I avoided them. But, that is a mistake I am going to work on in the year ahead.

And, what is the word for this year?

“Brand.”

Going to do my best to start leaning into the brand that I am making. Science Ficition and Fantasy with a dark edge. Does this mean I will not being working on other stories? No, I will always work on many stories of different…ugh I hate to use the word, but “themes.” It just means I am going to start to lean into those stories that fit my brand a bit more so I will have stories that fit the brand more.

Speaking of, if anyone is a fan of the Starlight Saga series, the third in the series, Blood of Starlight, is starting out as a Vella series. The first five episodes are out. (1-3 are free!) And, if you are a Patreon, you will be getting the first eleven episodes some time this week.

I am also hoping to blog a bit more than once randomly every month or three. Going to try for twice a week, so Monday and Wed. probably.

And, with a new year, I think I will start ending these differently than I have. I quoted George Carlin and his “May evil be confused on the way to your door.”

But, it is time for a new goodbye phrase…”May the wind be ever at your back, your shield not break, and your oaths stand strong for a thousand years.”
